Yes, you can network your CNC machine to streamline file transfers and improve workflow. CNC machine networking allows you to connect your machines to a local network, enabling wireless or wired file sharing between your computer and the machine. This eliminates the need for USB sticks or manual transfers.
With solutions like LEGACY Connect USB, even older CNC machines can be upgraded to support modern CNC networking. You can send .NC, .GCODE, and other toolpath files directly to your machine over WiFi – no internet required. This makes your workshop more efficient, reduces downtime, and supports secure, reliable file delivery.

LEGACY Connect USB works with most CNC machines, laser cutters, and industrial equipment that accept standard USB memory sticks. It's been successfully tested with Haas, Fanuc, Siemens, Mazak, and other legacy controllers, making it a flexible upgrade for older machines without modern network connectivity.
Unfortunately, this does not work with Haas Next Gen Controller.
-
Yes – LEGACY Connect USB works with all major CAM software including Autodesk Fusion 360, Mastercam, and PowerMill. Simply save your .NC or .GCODE files to the mapped network drive, and transfer them wirelessly to your CNC machine over your local WiFi.
-
No internet connection is required. LEGACY Connect creates a local WiFi network for secure, fast file transfers. It’s designed to work offline, making it ideal for workshops with restricted or no internet access.
-
Just power it up, connect to it from your phone or PC, choose your WiFi network, and you’re ready to go. Setup takes under 10 minutes with no apps or cloud accounts.
-
Yes. LEGACY Connect operates only on your local network — no data is sent to the internet or cloud. You can connect it to a password-protected WiFi network, and the shared folder itself requires a username and password, keeping access limited to your authorised team. This ensures your files stay secure within your company’s internal systems.
-
You can unplug it and move it between machines, or buy multiple units for dedicated use.
-
Absolutely. LEGACY Connect supports all standard CNC file formats such as .NC, .GCODE, .TAP, .TXT, and more. As long as your CNC machine can read it from a USB stick, it will work with LEGACY Connect.
Just map the shared folder on your PC and drag files into it — they’ll appear as if they were on a USB stick plugged into the machine.

We recommend a 5V 2A USB power supply (such as a standard phone charger). When connected to a CNC machine, it must provide sufficient power—if not, use an external power source to avoid file corruption.
